Getting Around Providenciales

From the Airport

Taxi. Taxis are readily available outside the Providenciales International Airport (PLS) arrivals hall; rates are fixed by zone and it is best to confirm the price with the driver before departing. Car Rental. Most major car rental agencies have kiosks directly across from the airport terminal, which is the most convenient way to explore the island at your own pace.

Once You're There

Car Rental. Renting a car is essential for exploring Providenciales, as public transportation is limited and the island is spread out; remember to drive on the left side of the road. Taxi. Taxis are the primary way to get around if you choose not to drive, though they can become expensive for frequent trips; they are best for short point-to-point transfers.

3 Days in Providenciales

Day 1

Grace Bay Bliss

Grace Bay Beach

Morning. Start your trip by heading straight to the world-famous Grace Bay Beach, where the sand is as soft as powdered sugar. Spend your morning walking the shoreline, stopping to admire the view at the Seven Stars Resort beach access point. By mid-morning, take a short stroll to Saltmills Plaza to visit Potcake Place K-9 Rescue, where you can learn about the local island dogs. It is best to arrive early to avoid the crowds, and don't forget to pack plenty of reef-safe sunscreen. Afterward, head toward the nearby shops to grab a coffee before your next adventure.

Coral Gardens Reef

Afternoon. For the afternoon, head over to the Bight Reef, also known as Coral Gardens Reef, for some of the best snorkeling directly off the beach. You will see sea turtles and vibrant tropical fish just yards from the shore, so bring your own snorkel gear to save on rental costs. After drying off, walk over to Hemingway's on the Beach for a casual lunch with a view. Spend the rest of the afternoon lounging under a cabana, then head toward the Leeward area to see the luxurious canal-front homes. Wrap up your afternoon by walking the docks at Blue Haven Marina to admire the visiting yachts.

Grace Bay

Evening. As the sun begins to set, make your way to the Grace Bay area for a refined dinner experience. Start with a cocktail at the bar at Infiniti Restaurant & Raw Bar, which offers an unbeatable vantage point for the sunset. For dinner, secure a reservation at the lush, palm-fringed Coco Bistro for a magical outdoor dining environment. After your meal, take a slow walk back through the main strip of Grace Bay to enjoy the warm island breeze. It is the perfect way to cap off your first day in paradise.

Day 2

Chalk Sound and Southern Shores

Chalk Sound National Park

Morning. Today, head to the southwest side of the island to witness the stunning, neon-blue waters of Chalk Sound National Park. Drive along the scenic road that cuts through the lagoon, stopping at various pull-offs to take photos of the limestone islands dotting the water. From there, continue to Taylor Bay Beach, a hidden gem with incredibly shallow, calm water that is perfect for wading. Be sure to bring a waterproof camera, as the contrast between the white sand and the brilliant blue water is unlike anything else on the island. Afterward, drive a few minutes over to the nearby Sapodilla Bay Beach to compare the two scenic coves.

Five Cays

Afternoon. For lunch, head to the nearby Las Brisas Restaurant, which sits right on the edge of Chalk Sound and offers a beautiful terrace. Once you have refueled, drive toward the Five Cays area to experience a more local side of the island. Stop by the local docks to see the fishing boats coming in with their daily catch. If you have time, drive through the residential areas to see the colorful architecture of the local homes. It is a great way to escape the resort bubble and see the authentic pace of island life.

Blue Hills

Evening. End your afternoon by heading to the legendary Da Conch Shack in Blue Hills for a true island dinner. This iconic spot is famous for its fresh conch salad prepared right in front of you while you sit at picnic tables in the sand. Listen to the live music that often plays during the evening and enjoy a local Turks Head beer. Before you leave, take a walk along the shoreline under the moonlight to appreciate the quiet beauty of the north coast. It is a laid-back, quintessentially Caribbean way to spend your final evening.

Day 3

Reefs and Island Exploration

Turtle Cove Marina

Morning. Start your final day by heading to Turtle Cove Marina, a hub of activity on the north side of the island. Grab a quick breakfast at one of the marina-side cafes, then head to Smith's Reef for a morning of world-class snorkeling. This area is known for its diverse coral heads and is a haven for eagle rays and nurse sharks, so keep your eyes peeled. Spend at least two hours here to explore the different sections of the reef. Afterward, walk back toward the marina to watch the boats coming and going before you head off to your next stop.

Little Water Cay

Afternoon. For the afternoon, take a boat excursion from the marina to Little Water Cay, also known as Iguana Island. You will be able to walk the boardwalks and see the rare endangered rock iguanas in their natural habitat. Many tours include a stop at a sandbar, so be prepared to jump into the crystal clear water off the boat. Once you return to the main island, head to the Saltmills Plaza area for some souvenir shopping. Pick up some local art or handmade jewelry before heading back to your accommodation to freshen up.

The Palms

Evening. For your final dinner, treat yourself to the upscale atmosphere of Parallel 23, located at The Palms. The courtyard setting is beautiful, and the menu features excellent grilled meats and fresh catches. After dinner, take a final walk along Grace Bay Beach to listen to the waves one last time. If you are there on a Thursday, check if the Thursday Fish Fry is happening at the Bight Park for a final dose of local culture and music. It is the perfect conclusion to a relaxing and adventurous island getaway.
