Walk down 7th Avenue to admire the wrought-iron balconies and visit the Ybor City Museum State Park to learn about the cigar industry that built the city. Grab a coffee at a local cafe and watch the chickens roam the streets, a quirky local tradition. Make sure to visit La Segunda Central Bakery early to snag a fresh loaf of Cuban bread before the lines form. From there, take the free TECO Streetcar toward downtown to transition from history to the modern urban core.

Tampa Riverwalk

Afternoon. Once you arrive in downtown, head straight to the Tampa Riverwalk for a scenic stroll along the Hillsborough River. Stop at the Henry B. Plant Museum to explore the opulent former Tampa Bay Hotel, which features stunning Victorian architecture. Afterward, relax for a moment at Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park, which offers great views of the skyline and the river. If you're hungry, walk over to the nearby Florida Museum of Photographic Arts for a dose of culture. This area is very walkable, so keep your camera ready for the public art installations scattered along the path.

The Florida Aquarium

Evening. As the sun sets, head toward Sparkman Wharf for an upscale outdoor dining experience right on the water. You can choose from various shipping container-style eateries while enjoying live music and the view of cruise ships in the port. After dinner, walk over to The Florida Aquarium to see if they have any evening events or simply enjoy the illuminated exterior. End your night with a cocktail at a nearby rooftop bar overlooking the Garrison Channel. It is the perfect way to cap off your first day in the city.

Day 2

Riverside Culture & Hyde Park

Armature Works

Morning. Begin your second day by exploring the trendy Armature Works, a massive mixed-use space located in a restored streetcar warehouse. Wander through the Heights Public Market to see the variety of local vendors and grab a craft coffee while sitting by the river. Once you've explored the building, rent a bike or walk along the north end of the Riverwalk toward the Ulele Spring. This area is beautifully landscaped and offers a peaceful view of the water, making it a great spot for morning photos. It’s a favorite local hangout, so you’ll get a real sense of Tampa’s community vibe.

Hyde Park

Afternoon. Head south to the historic Hyde Park neighborhood, known for its beautiful mansions and tree-lined streets. Spend your afternoon browsing the shops and boutiques at Hyde Park Village, a high-end outdoor shopping district. Stop for lunch at a place like Goody Goody Burgers to enjoy a classic Tampa meal. Afterward, walk a few blocks over to Bayshore Boulevard, which boasts the longest continuous sidewalk in the United States. The view of the bay is breathtaking, and you might even spot dolphins jumping in the distance.
